I'm surprised how nicely the box accommodates the LEGO brick dimensions.

If this gets DQed, I will be very annoyed.

This is amazingly fascinating. :) The LEGO model itself is nice, but like TBB said, it's all in the presentation. The idea of a portable kingdom is just wonderful and the texture of the chest paired with the cleanliness of your bricks is great.

Rod, this is fantastic! Any chance a brick-built sky with clouds would fit in the lid? After visiting Vuitton, I want to see the Kingdoms of Gucci and Hermès. You've inspired me to get working again on an idea I've "toyed" with... a LEGO Christmas village with train built inside a large antique suitcase. With flex track, PF Trains and the new 10199 Winter Toy Shop I think it can finally become a reality. FAV'd

Thanks for the comments folks, much appreciated.

^^^Thanks Bill. Glad you like it. The box lid folds flat so it's level with the box itself (if that makes sense) and I did have another "land" built in there with more sea and another couple of mountains. But... the box wouldn't shut with stuff in the lid, and that just felt wrong. It was important to me that the whole kingdom could be "packed away".

I am loving the sound of that suitcase BTW. You've got me thinking: I have an old steamer trunk of my dad's that I could do something with. Maybe if I do make it over to Chicago next year we could show "luggage MOCs" alongside one another!

Morgan190 - If it gets DQ'd from the competition then it's their shout. I'm not too worried. Having run a couple of competitions myself, the last thing those guys need is folk like me bitching about rules etc. I'm just glad their competition prompted me to build the thing - it's been in my head for years.

V&A - Cheers Guy, I went through a month of LEGO-related grumpiness and didn't build anything. But I'm back in the groove now...

Oh man, I want a chest with inner dimensions in studs :(

      I've an additional idea:

As the 2 drawers are below the main case it would be perfect to put a dungeon/prison in these 2 drawers... what do you think ?!
