Pūkeko

A rail bird found in New Zealand, across Asia/Pacific and Europe (Moorhen). The Pokeno is one of the most recognised native birds in New Zealand with its distinctive bright colourings and habit of feeding on the ground. Pūkeko is the New Zealand name for the purple swamphen (Porphyrio porphyrio).

Found in or near wetlands the Pūkeko was used by a local energy company in New Zealand to advertise conservation/energy savings.
