Barnyard Snack Bento for Toddler

Newer Older

Onigiri (rice ball), hard-boiled egg, blueberries and edamame. I made these with commonly available ice cream sandwich molds. They also do quadruple duty as cookie cutters, onigiri (rice ball) molds, and egg molds! See my blog entry for the how-to.

Edamame is indeed a soy bean -- very fresh tasting. It's a staple snack food in Japan, served as kind of an appetizer in an izakaya (pub).

Oh, I have the other set of the molds (heart, star, fancy square) and use them for onigiri also. I really should go and get the other set too. I found mine at Fred Meyer.

psyche3> I'm not sure which country you're in, but you can get the Tovolo ice cream sandwich molds on Amazon cheaper than Williams Sonoma, and in additional designs.
