Project Flickr - Week 43 - Eerie
Just outside of town lies an old cemetery. It is a little eerie and a tad creepy. Oh, I mean no disrespect for the dearly departed but this is a place that you would not find in a large refined metropolitan city. There is no caretaker here and no manicured lawns. Trees are sparse and weeds are plentiful. Broken glass from discarded beer and whiskey bottles litter the ground. Unusual mementos are left on the graves for the loved ones. There are faded teddy bears and toy cars on the graves of children. A shot glass and empty bottle of whisky sits beside a wrought iron cross at the head of a grave. A chair sits in the shade of a mesquite tree beside the grave of a teenaged departed young man. Among the graves are many crosses marking the resting places of the unknown and forgotten. There is a sadness as you walk around the graves that seem to be randomly placed on the top of this hill.
