GEISHA GIRLS GONE BAD ? -- Two Japanese Women Hiding Their Faces in the Docket of a Tokyo Courtroom.

The Year is 1922. We are in the middle of the TAISHO period. What these girls did to get in so much trouble, I will leave to your imagination. Whatever it was, they were hiding their shame and their faces from the public. Off to the left, and out of the picture stands a police officer of the Court. In the blackness beyond sits a crowd of onlookers.

RHETORICAL QUESTIONS: What is the connection between crime and shame, religion and anonymity, and.....putting a BASKET ON YOUR HEAD ? And what, if anything, does that have to do with Geisha Gone Wild?

Please look at these two pictures, and see if you can come up with your own theory: www.flickr.com/photos/24443965@N08/2358251714/ and www.flickr.com/photos/24443965@N08/2329054417/
