THE DAUGHTER OF THE HOUSE WITH HER FRIENDS AND A CAT
A fine, circa 1898-1907 composition of Geisha and Maiko.
I have cleaned this one up a bit after it was featured on PINK TENTACLE.
From a Sample Set of Classic Meiji and Taisho-era Japan Stereoview and Lantern-Slide images by Japanese Photographer T. ENAMI (1859-1929). For more about the photographer, see www.t-enami.org
NOTE : On 25 March 2010, the above Geisha / Maiko stereoview was given a general touch-up and spot-cleaning after I got bothered by the dings and scratches flickering in my eyes while looking at the GIF animation in the first post below. Although the original view remains as scuffed up as it appears in the below GIF, the above "repaired" version now looks more like the pristine view it was when Enami first made it over 100 years ago !
