Angel Playing a Flageolet (drawing after Sir Edward Burne-Jones) and Pre-Raphaelite Angels: #Flickr12Days(poem)

To hear my son Patrick Goble's very traditional rendition of "Ave Maria" in Latin to go with this drawing, , please go to the following address: www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDTNRokPJms&feature=g-all-u. I think you will enjoy the music.

This drawing eventually reached number 15 on Explore. First made Explore on March 30, 2008, and it's still in Explore over four years later. This has been a big surprise to me, but I'm very happy about it.

This is my version of Burne-Jones lovely angel. Pencil, ink, colored pencil, gold paint on colored paper. I applied velvet powder, metal powders, gilded braid, and paint to various mats, and painted the frame to match the predominant colors in the drawing. Drawing measures about 5 by 7 inches.

Pre-Raphaelite Angels

They were the angels of delight,

Not rushing Powers of the air,

Nor Principalities,

Nor beings of great might.

Mere beauty was their

State of grace--

A sovereignty of light.
