The Green Dress (painting) Green (poem)
An old self-portrait. The clothing, jewelry, hair style, and background are all purely products of my imagination. Acrylic on canvas
Green ( in honor of April, national poetry month)
Green watered silk,
The color of the foam
Which rides upon the sea
Whipped high and frothing
Into the fresh-skimming
Air
Sailing to the Orient shore,
Which in its turn sends emissaries
Of the fraught wind
To greet the voyager
With gift of breeze
Redolent of spice and sandalwood--
A silken caress against the ocean's
Humid skin,
Lifting the spindrift
Skirts
Of waves.
