Lockheed/Fiat F-104G "Flying Ferrari"

100% pure Lego (even the stickers).

Very nice work! As Aleks said, the landing gear looks like it could work for an F-16 as well - I've been considering building one lately.

It's minifig scale but it doesn't fit a fig because of the canopy.

^ A small compromise to make for such a great model. the shaping, angle and pitch of the wings is excellent, and did I see working air brakes too? Nice!
  • Pascal 4y

    Nicely done indeed.
  • John Lamarck 4y

Yes indeed there are working air brakes just like the real one :-)

    A thing of beauty!

The F104 is my absolute favourite of the century jets, and always found it funny how the airforce called for a high altitude interceptor, and though it was fitted with a downward ejection seat, decide to use it for ground attack....damn you guys are too smart for your own good, and then, lol, call it the widow maker.....doh....things that are designed for up high, should be used...up high....doh.

Some nice work on this one John, very recognisable.

Hey really good lookin' F-104 ! Congrat's on this, I've planned to build one for a long time, but seeing this, that made me think I really can't make a better one ! Nice use of those minifig legs to add inverted dihedra, I'm a huge fan of this technique !
The landing gears are awesomme too :)

Very iconic. And I love how the intakes transition so smoothly into the fuselage.

Thanks guys, glad you like it.

Great rendering of the Starfighter. The only thing I would do differently is is use a studs up wing construction to make the wing thinner.

The canopy/cockpit is done really well.
  • John Lamarck 4y

The wings are a little thick but I wanted a studless design and i don't like very much tiling studs. On the other hand with wedge plates (my first try) the wings shape wasn't accurate enough.

Wow this is a really nice F-104 and of course the functionality you achieved is pretty amazing. I must say, the wings don't look too bad being bricks instead of plates...I thought they would be unacceptably thick but this does not appear to be the case. Keep 'em coming John!
  • Buff83ST 4y

    Very impressive, John!
I love the entire aft section - the jet exhaust, airbrakes, T-tail and tilted wings with addtional fuel tanks, the awesome looking main gear. Great front profile, too, and lovely work on the intakes. Congrats to another awesome aircraft.
