Western Union -- Happy Mother's Day - 1942

The year was 1942 ... WWII was raging .... my dad was serving in the U.S. Army at the time --- stationed somewhere in the Pacific Theater --- because it was wartime -- he wasn't able to say where --- could have been New Guinea -- or one of the Philippine Islands. This is a photo of the actual Western Union telegram (which I have) that my dad sent to his mom [my grandmother / Olive Robertson] ..... on May 8, 1942 .....

My dad and mom grew up together in a rural Missouri farming community but didn't marry until after WWII ended ... during the war years my mom worked 12-hour shifts at a munitions factory in St. Louis .... donated blood to the Red Cross every eight weeks .... and .... at the time ... weighed less than 100 lbs.
