These goddess figures circle a fireplace in the goddess temple at Indian Springs, Nevada. The temple was built by peace workers and goddess worshippers after a benefactor purchased the land. A former priestess at the temple explained to me that it was built to help spiritually heal the land surrounding the Nevada test site, which lies just a few miles up the highway. The Nevada test site was the testing ground for atomic bombs during the 50s-90s.
Given its proximity to the test site, Indian Springs has understandably become something of a Nevada test site town. The priestess said that there had been a few standoffs between worshippers at the temple and local workers who were less than sympathetic to the temple's cause.
