Just recently, I took a family vacation to Japan, where we visited Tokyo and Kyoto. Since my family had never been to Japan before and they weren't that interested in going off the beaten track, I mostly visited a lot of the easy-to-access touristy areas. So, I really didn't see much that I hadn't seen before, but it was fun to be back!
I spent one day in the downtown area of Kyoto where most of the hanamachi/kagai/geisha districts are, and I got a stroke of luck. I ran into a friend of mine who's a fellow geisha enthusiast and photographer. Along with showing me several of her photographs (including beautiful photos of Kosen in sakkou with ohaguro), she pointed out that Mameroku had her misedashi the day before and that she would be walking around for her day-after-misedashi greetings. I had never attended one of these when I was living in Japan, so I'm quite excited I got to take these pictures.
