Avenues of Japanese palms, of African palms, immense pagoda fig trees, Madagasca [i.e. Madagascan] cypresses, trees from Java, Cuba, Chili [i.e. Chile], Brazil, Cape, East India etc. The roses excel even those of Andalusia & Carolina. The garden is managed by a French company and the pots of palms sold a La Madeleine Paris & Covent Garden London come from here. $20,000 worth are sold each year.
