Breaking the Thanksgiving Tradition: Pot au feu (Boiled Dinner)
All those wild turkeys I've been seeing in the fields around the house turned me off turkey dinners... In Canada, we celebrate Thanksgiving (the tradition originated in Canada - Newfoudland to be exact) during the first weekend of October. Pot au feu (boiled dinner) is traditionally made with beef (bone in), root vegetables, cabbage and green beans. Leftovers will be as plentiful as if we had turkey. Tarte tatin for dessert with cinnamon ice cream.
