Construction started on the building in 1927. The door were not opened until 1933 because of the Great Depression. The architectural style has been called Exotic Revival, and is characterized by Moorish embishments such as arches. The Exotic Revival style was used during the decade around 1920-1930 for theater buildings. The theater closed in 1966. In 2010, when the photograph was taken, the building was being used as a religious center.
