Pittaman tasting his food at the Sinksenfoor

With more than 150 attractions, the "Sinksenfoor" in Antwerp is one of the largest funfairs in Belgium, also called kermis in the Dutch language. It gets its name from the celebration of Pentecost, or in Dutch "Sinksen" or Pinksteren, which is traditionally the first day of the funfair. The fair lasts six weeks and is located in the center of Antwerp.

The Sinksenfoor has a long history. It has grown from the yearly market that took place around Pentecost in the 13th century. The fair started in 1875 and moved locations within Antwerp in 1969.
