Proejct 365 #346: 121215 What A Grind
Today did prove to be a bit of a grind in a few ways.
Early on I got my car repaired. You might remember that I've reported earlier that I need a suspension tie rod replacing. Well, that proved to be a bit tricky to remove, as you can see from the 'unbolting' technique being used in the pic.
Finally the old tie rod was liberated and my old man did the famous teeth sucking noise that all mechanics practice. Waggling my anti roll bar up and down several inches, he said "that shouldn't move".
It seems that the root cause of my knocking was not the suspension tie rod but a knackered anti roll bar bush. Sadly this was impossible to diagnose until the tie rod was removed.
The good news is that it's only a ten pound part. The bad news is that you need to drop the entire front subframe to replace it. This might not even be economically viable, potentially meaning that I might be looking to replace my car for the sake of a ten pound part. What are the odds.
Then I brought Matt's car in for a wheel bearing to be done, only to find that the essential tool was locked away and inaccessible. Bah.
Fast forward to this evening. We've got a concert at the Phil that Sue has been looking forward to for months and she's too sick to go. I think she would have been disappointed though. A brilliant concert of jazz standards, but with barely five Christmas songs in there. The show was titled "A Hollywood Christmas".
Ah well. Tomorrow is another day.
