Air-India Boeing 707 Juhu Garden Bombay
What a find! After searching the Internet for years for this artifact, I finally came across this rare postcard, which I immediately purchased from a very nice lady in Germany. Why? I have cherished memories of playing on this airplane as a child while living in Bombay (Mumbai), India. Made of reinforced concrete, it depicts an Air-India Boeing 707-437in mid-1960s livery; children could sit on the "seats" in the cabin and flight deck. It existed at least until March 2009, when one of the engines fell off, fatally injuring a 9-year-old boy, according to an online Mumbai newspaper. According to one blogger, the model represents VT-DMN, Kanchenjunga, an aircraft that was later to crash near Mont Blanc, Switzerland. After the fatal accident, this model was scrapped in January 2011.
