The high country of Yosemite is just as beautiful as the more popular valley, and offers a retreat from the crowds. John Muir's first experience with Yosemite was up here herding sheep. His push to save this beautiful park began here where the Tuolumne River meanders below granite domes. In this shot, Lembert Dome towers over the forest and grasslands of the Tuolumne Meadow.
