Home of the Hoodoos, Bryce Canyon, UT 9-09
(1 in a multiple picture album)
Utah has five (5!) national parks. One is Bryce where this photo was taken. It is smaller than the Grand Canyon, but perhaps as spectacular. You will find a huge bowl of a canyon filled with columns called hoodoos. The Native Americans thought each one was a departed ancestors. There are lots of trails around the rim and some down into the canyon. It is not to be missed.
The rancher named Bryce for whom the canyon was named dismissed the beauty. He said, "It's a hell of a place to lose a cow!"
