Desert in Bloom, Joshua Tree NP 3-19a

(1 in a multiple picture album)

Joshua Tree National Park is fairly close to our home and for years we've gone there to get away. Now the secret is out and the crowds are finding it. But it is still an amazing example of Mother Nature's beauty especially in the Spring following good rains.

You see, she had hidden seeds under the sand and when conditions are right, she lets them pop up and show off for awhile. They get their short lived show for just a little while until the air heats up and they wither away. But for a little while, they burst with splendor.

The park has a unique position in that it lies on the juncture of the Mohave Desert and the Colorado Desert.
