Hakurakuten Yama (白楽天山) boy
I couldn't make myself delete this photo. The focus isn't quite right, and the kid's face isn't entirely in the shot, but there's something I like about it.... This is probably just one of those Moments of Irrationality where I become attached to a photo that should have been Recycled, but screw it, it's mine.
Hakurakuten Yama also saw hardship in its time - it was burned up and destroyed a couple of times, but it managed to stay in the festival. The figures atop it are a poet and a priest, discussing the finer points of Buddhism. Always exciting. And the front tapestry, for reasons unknown to me, portrays a scene from the Trojan War. Not that I'm complaining, but it is a little curious.
