i think your whole life shows in your face and you should be proud of that.

this is my granny, mama faye, on derby day 2011. she will be 97 in a few days. she is a poet who produces a self-published book of her poems every year. she does crossword puzzles and sudoku, plays along to jeopardy, and reads every day. she goes to church, belongs to a woman's club and a writer's club, and plays bingo. until just a few years ago, she lived largely unassisted on our family farm and cooked for herself and fished in her ponds and walked her beloved farm every day. she is the most stubborn and tenacious person i know, and she was the bricks and mortar of my foundation.
happy mothers day to my mama faye.
