Wouter demonstrating pulley

This is how we bring the line up and down in a controlled manner. First I bring to kite up to a safe height, without camera, at least 80 metres of line. End of the line is strapped to a fixed point using a figure 8 climbing tool. The pulley shown on the picture can be opened, positioned over the kiteline, and closed, using a carabiner. A large carabiner acts as a handle. After the line has been brought down, de Gopro camera is attachted to line line using a small carbon tube, and a set of RAM Mount tools. The tube is attached to the line using ordinairy Duct tape. A small safety rope is added, but never proved to be needed. After positioning the camera in the right direction and angle, the line is gently brought up again using the pulley and caribiner combo. The Gopro camera is set to timelapse mode, and makes a picture every 5 seconds. Simple, but very effective.
