Mussenden Temple, Castlerock, Northern Ireland............better viewed large.

Mussenden Temple was built in 1785 as a Library and modelled on The Temple of Vesta in Italy.

Over the years the erosion of the cliff face has brought the Temple ever closer to the edge of the cliff.

The Temple offers magnificent views over Downhill Beach and across to Donegal - only a Seagull willl see more!

The Inscription around the top of the building reads:-

'"Tis pleasant safely, to behold from Shore

The rolling ship and hear the Tempest roar".

I am priveleged to live 5 minutes from this wonderful place!
