Groceries

    Newer Older

First time I was told not to take pictures. A manager approached me and said that the owner doesn't like people taking pictures here. (he was polite about it)

So I went and knocked their toilet paper aisle over. (just kidding)

    Paranoia FTW.

I understand that to them, I could be "casing" the store for a burglary or something, or "spying" for a competing store, or some other heinous act. (maybe I was just in the way in an abandoned aisle, or scaring other customers) It's obvious that I'm up to no good, and perhaps I overreact by moving 2 states away...at least I got a cool HDR out of it.

The grocery biz is highly competitive and I can understand how the manager might think you're from a rival store and they want to see what the "other guys" are doing with displays, product, lights, colors etc...it's stupid, yes, but as a privately-owned business they do have the right to ask you to refrain, because they don't know what you're going to do with the pix. It's not about art to them...it's about commerce!

I love the color and the lens distortion on this.

This is a great idea, I"m going to try it myself. I got asked to stop taking pictures in a hardware store in Texas - they had some really funny signs. It probably would have gone over better if the "manager" wasn't some rude snot-nosed 12 year old (well, maybe a LITTLE older). I told them if they were going to have funny signs than to prepare for cameras because SOMEDAY WE PHOTOGS WILL TAKE OVER THE WORLD (insert Snidely Whiplash laugh here). Anyway, this is a COOL picture and I"m glad you got it before they hog-tied you and drug you out of there :-) What kind of lens did you use the get the "bend"?

I just used a Canon Powershot A570IS and a Digital Concepts 0.5x conversion lens for this one.
