The Grand Canal - Canal Grande - Canałasso is a canal in Venice, Italy. It forms one of the major water-traffic corridors in the city. Public transport is provided by water buses (Italian: vaporetti) and private water taxis, and many tourists explore the canal by gondola. The banks of the Grand Canal are lined with more than 170 buildings, most of which date to 13th to the 18th century and demonstrate the welfare and art created by the Republic of Venice. The noble venetian families faced huge expenses to show off their richness in suitable palazzos: this contest reveals the citizens’ pride and the deep bond with the lagoon.

Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute - The Basilica of St Mary of Health - commonly known simply as the Salute, is a Roman Catholic church and minor basilica located in the Dorsoduro sestiere of the Italian city of Venice. It stands on a narrow finger of land between the Grand Canal and the Bacino di San Marco making the church visible when entering the Piazza San Marco from the water. The Salute is part of the parish of the Gesuati and is the most recent of the so-called Plague-churches.

The morning blue hour is always tricky to shoot as you never know what monumets will be still lit and which ones wont. That applies to Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute which unfortunately had lights off early in the morning. I didnt mind it that much as there were still some lights along the canal that gave the photo some additional point of interest.
