Wahiba Sands or Ramlat al-Wahiba (also called Sharqiya Sands), lies in the eastern region of Oman. The sands stretch from north to south 180 kilometres, east to west 80 kilometres, with high dunes, extensive woodlands and an unspoiled coastline. Some of the sand dunes are 100 meters in height. Total land area is approximately 12,000 square kilometres with about 3,000 Bedu of varying tribal origins including Janabah, Mawalik, Hikman, Amr and Wahiba.

The desert has been of scientific interest since a 1986 expedition by the Royal Geographical Society documented the diversity of the terrain, the flora and fauna, noting 16,000 invertebrates as well as 200 species of other wildlife, including avifauna. They also documented 150 species of native flora.

I have been in Wahiba sands probably 4-5 times now, but only this time I was really happy with results. Sunset was the most dramatic and created beautiful colors in sky, bit later after this moment, therefore it will be kind of trilogy of photos from this place - late afternoon from previous post, this one at sunset and one shortly after.
