Asia - Sri Lanka - Ceylon - The Pearl of the Indian Ocean - Emerald Isle - Southern Province - Weligama - Fishing town on southern coast along the Indian Ocean - Stilt Fisherman - Traditinal and unique way of fishing - native craft

I have returned to Sri Lanka in a hope to get some better shots of these stilt fisherman than last time. Unfortunately, to my big surprise, it has become huge business in South of Sri Lanka. Now days these fishermen just pose and you have to pay 10 USD (which is lot of money in Sri Lanka standard for just few minutes of posing, women tea pluckers earn between 2 - 4 USD a day for picking around 20kg of tea !! ) for a shot or two at each location !! Just shocking ! Luckily normal fisherman on boats or fish markets are still happy to have their photos taken for free or a smile and a thank you.

I got to this particular place which was full of Chinese bus tourists that surely paid large amount of money to have these photos taken there. As soon as the "fisherman cashier/bodyguard" noticed me, he demanded the payment from me too, despite having just cashed in big time from those countless Chinese bus tourists. As I didnt want to pay he just stood in front of me and disabled me from taking a single shot.
