Citizen Cake! Tiramisushi

Amazing In laws gave me the best cookbook inspiration. First of many recipes to come - they're all so irreverent! And she describes how to plate, which is just fun.

Review: My sponge was dryer than I would have liked, so for future me-making, I'll probably make a marsala soak for the chocolate roulade to complement the mascarpone -- and maybe add sambuca to the filling. I think I might also put a layer of candied pear in as well. The chocolate sauce ... there's plenty of it, and it's going to transform itself into a chocolate "mousse". Yum! I love the ginger; I might candy that as well -- I can't get the freshest so it's a little bitter. And the pear ... I like that just in general, plus it adds that perfect amount of freshness. And those are wooden chopsticks, not shortbread ... I don't need to play pick-up sticks with shortbread right now, I've got to find an externship.

Citizen Cake ... *sigh* I've got a chef-crush.
