Beira Douro AEC
Of all the wonderful latter day AECs which plied their trade in Portugal ... way after most has ceased in their native UK, this style of UTIC bus bodywork would have looked perfectly at home (doors on t'other side of course) on British Roads.
The smartly liveried OP-91-86, looking like it might have been from a Portuguese subsidiary of my own Knotty Bus business (!) is seen leaving the railway station at Regua, and is about to cross the old bridge over the Douro river. EU money paid for a lofty concrete viaduct which spans the gorge, just out of shot to our right, though I don't think it had actually opened when I took this picture back in 1998.
