I've always had a liking for the less usual, so news of some new 'oddities' in the Nottingham City Transport fleet had 'berresfordsmotors' and I plotting a Saturday afternoon visit. The reason for our interest was a trio of experimental Dennis Falcon Vs which the operator had taken into stock. The chassis was unusual in that it used (in this case) a compact Mercedes V6 engine which was mounted longitudinally at the rear. Dennis offered it for use in double and single deck form. Perhaps the closest comparable British chassis was the ill fated Daimler Roadliner. NCT didn't keep the buses very long, but at least two went into independent service with Cedar coaches of Bedford ... where I seem to recall one committed suicide and burned out.
WRR 396Y with it's Nottingham style body is seen when quite new at a turning circle in Gedling.
