DAY 36/365: Salvage Yard Rothko
On my way to pick my daughter, Sophie, up from her friend's birthday party, I took an unplanned left turn and found myself pulling up to a vacant lot between a farm and garden supply store and a construction site. It appeared as though the lot had become a depository for cast-off odds and ends of building materials. As I was on the lookout for abstract views today, the lot seemed like a treasure trove.
This view is of a partially painted pipe. The texture and delineation of paint and metal reminded me instantly of a MarK Rothko painting. Of the collection I shot today, this photo is definitely my favorite.
Sometimes, left turns are exactly what one needs.
Today's DailyShoot assignment: Go abstract today and make a photograph that focuses on form and color rather than detail.
