New Forest Foal

New Forest Foal

This little foal was obviously finding the 26 deg C heat too much and decided to take a rest in the midday sun. All leggy and gangly and tires very easily at this age.

The foals are easily startled and can gallop off without warning across roads as vehicles pass by.

It is wise to give the foals a wide berth at this time of year as the stallions and mares are understandably very protective.

The New Forest National Park covers over 220 sq. miles of unenclosed pastureland where the animals roam free.

It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and owing to its vast diversity of flora and fauna, it is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
