Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique

The 14th Rallye Monte Carlo Historique: celebrating 100 years in 2011 cars departed at one minute intervals from Glasgow's Blythswood Square from 1830 hours on Thursday 27 January. Earlier in the day cars gathered in the city's George Square for final preparation and the public to admire. The cars left George Square from 1600 hours straight into the city's busy evening rush hour traffic!!

Louise Aitken-Walker, Scotland’s first world rally champion and course car celebrity, led the competitors off from Glasgow. A detail image of the fantastic red works replica Austin Healey 3000 (WFO 134) she was driving is seen here.

Louise Aitken-Walker, who originates from the Scottish Borders area, was the 1990 Ladies World Rally Champion and twice won the ‘Coup de Dames’ in the modern Monte Carlo Rally.
