Nickel Plate Road High Level Bridge

1957 vertical lift bridge over the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland, Ohio. The original bridge was constructed in 1917 for the New York, Chicago and St. Louis Railroad (Nickel Plate Road (NKP)) and is now owned by the Norfolk Southern Railway. The original moveable span was a Scherzer Rolling Lift span. In 1957, a longer vertical lift span was installed to increase horizontal clearance.
