Paul and Babe

    Newer Older

Paul and Babe glass mural in the Blue Ox Bar, Timberline Lodge, Mount Hood, Oregon.

Perhaps my favorite spot in the whole lodge. The room has three hand made glass mosaics of Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox that were made by Virginia Darce.

The lodge and all of it's fittings and furnishings were created during the Great Depression by FDR's WPA Project.

A wonderful way to put people to work. Why can't we have that kind of vision today.

I love this series in the bar. Those are some amazing Paul and Babe paintings. I agree with what Janice said.

I agree with Janice. I was hoping that would be what would happen... that people would be given such creative work as part of rebuilding- especially the young workers just starting out from high school. Maybe in some way this is happening and I just don't know about it. (Hoping)
