Many of these images are from George T. Miller's personal collection. Miller was a graduate of Slippery Rock State Normal School and a faculty member at Slippery Rock State Teachers College. He exchanged letters with Slippery Rock students in the armed services during World War II, and their correspondences grew into a publication called The Victory Bell, first published in January 1942. The Victory Bell went to soldiers all over the world.

Scattered issues of The Victory Bell are available in the Slippery Rock University Archives.
