Clingman's Dome is the highest point (6,643 feet) in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Along the walkway from the Parking lot to the observation deck there are large patches of blooming Bee Balm during the month of August. Amongst these blooms, large numbers butterflies feed and create a colorful contrast to the foliage and blooms.
