Toadlets come out smaller with predators

Frog tadpoles and salamander larvae can drastically alter their behavior when they grow up with predators. The top toadlet was raised in an artificial pond with predatory dragonfly larvae. The bottom toadlet was raised in an artificial pond without predators. The predators caused the top toad to metamorphose at about half the mass of the lower toad.

Other examples of predator effects include red tails in gray treefrog tadpoles and different tail shapes in Pacific Chorus Frogs.
