Poires Belle Hélène

Poached pear with vanilla bean ice cream, chocolate sauce

Poires Belle Hélène, or pears "beautiful Helen" is a dessert invented in the late 19th century by the renowned French chef, Georges Auguste Escoffier. He allegedly named it after the opera La belle Hélène, all about Helen of Troy, composed by Jacques Offenbach. (Source: wikipedia)

Sweet poached pear coated with a pour of warm, gooey chocolate deliciousness & topped with a scoop (I had 2) of vanilla bean ice cream. yummy.
