The Ten Commandments vs the Supreme Court
My home town is in the news today because of a case before the US Supreme Court. The case involves this monument of the 10 commandments that sits in a city park. Some obscure religion (The Summum Religion) has sued the city demanding that they be allowed to erect their own monument to something called the Seven Aphorisms, which from what I can tell is something derived from a 60’s Hippie drug induced communal rant. What is interesting is that not more than 20 feet from the 10 Commandment Monument is another dedicated to the hero’s of Sept. 11th. So the real question is, if the Supreme Court rules that Pleasant Grove City must allow all the Summums their say, does that also mean that they also could never stop someone from erecting a monument to the Al Qaeda terrorists? It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out.
