Nineteen teams competed for the title of Paddling Champions of the Cuyahoga River. Our race day was dedicated to the loving memory of Cecilia McGinty, one of our own who lost her 18 month battle with anaplastic lymphoma. Paddles Up Cecilia!

When the smoke on the water faded, it was the Canadian teams that showed their mettle! All three Canadian teams finished at the top of the field. Quicksilver (Toronto community team), Gold medal Champion and winner of the Cuyahoga Cup, dominated the race day with an overall three heat race time average of 2:03.471, more than 15 seconds faster than Runner-Up and Bronze medal winner CSA Eye of the Dragon, a corporate team also from Toronto. The WonderBroads, from Windsor Canada dominated the BCS teams and returned to Canada with the BCS Cuyahoga Cup! Their overall race time average of 2:22.008 (sixth overall) was quite impressive!

Rounding out the medal winners, the Blazing Paddles community team from Cleveland with a Bronze Medal finish and overall race time average of 2:24.077. All participating teams displayed strength, endurance and their best effort working as a unified team, the core of dragon boat racing!
