i live in a fairly old building. old, per s.sf. standards anyway (early 1920s?). in those days, apparently it was perfectly fine to build drains that were shared by two apartments. every few years, the drain to my bathtub backs up. if the neighbors take a shower, i get the residual backwash in my tub. yummmm. i already spent a vacation day with ron jeremy a few months back trying to get this same drain fixed. (yeah, the radiator also still leaks.)
tonight, i came home with some serious arsenal – pro strength drano! (there's a dash above the "a" – which in some language not quite known to mankind or the drano website must make the correct pronunciation "draino"). and it's guaranteed to clear "total blockages" (ummm). well, it made matters worse. my bathtub's half full of standing water. and i'm in desperate need of a shower cuz i kinda sorta, fer shure, smell like bbq sauce (attm bmb = B(ar)B(ee)Q(ueen)). tomorrow, i'm spending part of my day searching for a plunger (not using the poor sad abandoned one hanging out at the other neighbors' back stoop). now all i have to figure out is – the neighborhood ace hardware or tarjay? woe is me.
