Illinois State Capitol Building, Springfield

On March 11th 1868, just a little more than three years after the assentation of our country's 16th president, ground was broken for this large "stately" building. Estimated cost were three million and the building was completed in 1888 at a cost of four and a half million. House chambers to the left and senate chambers to the right. This is the "seat" of Illinois government.
