Savory mochi dumplings in light broth (sup banh troi man)

    Newer Older

My interpretation of Vietnamese popular snack - savory mochi dumplings (normally serve without soup, with onion oil)

Photography note: no natural light for me now, so I have resorted to artifical light at night. Need to get the reflector out next time..

This is my favorite out of the three. The pretty bead (?) flowers and spoon are nicely balanced against the bowl here. What an organic looking backdrop. I do feel it might have been more effective to cut the scallion (?) garnish into smaller pieces, but an overall unique and interesting photo :).

Xiaolu, thanks for the comments. I was thinking the same thing - perhaps the onion is a bit distracting. Originally wants to create a more 'flowy' effects for the bowl.. :)
