Don't know what you're supposed to do if you need to buy something "off list" like tampons or Rice Krispies, but I'm sure it's quite a handy thing to have around anyway.
I've just found out that the character from Withnail & I that I'd always thought was called, "Presuming Head", is actually called "Presuming Ed", which I think is a much less satisfactory name. Oh well.
In the Captain Manja episode, I said this shop was like the one out of Bagpuss, but run by Presuming Head from Withnail & I.
Well, since then I had occasion to walk past it again, during opening hours. I seem to recall it was evening actually, so maybe not opening hours, but the point is: the door was open.
And inside, amongst a lot of reasonably interesting junk & bric-a-brac, were a group of crusties the like of which I haven't clapped eyes on since the late 90's. It was like finding a lost tribe of pygmies.
They looked like they were kind of going to get round to having a band rehearsal in a minute or two, if they could just manage to, "get it together".
Kind of thing.
So in a sense, when I said it was Emily's Shop, run by Presuming Head, I wasn't a million miles off, as it turns out.
Fancy that.
