TRAIN Sculpture 2014-08-07
On the way back from visiting family in York we spotted a sign pointing to a train sculpture, and decided to investigate.

It’s a little grubby, but otherwise impressive given it’s apparently made out of ordinary bricks.

According to the signs (which didn’t photograph well) it’s called “TRAIN”, is by David Mach, and was unveiled in June 1997 by Lord Palumbo of Walbrook, which is a name and a half…

There was also a poem by a competition-winning 7-year-old, who I guess would be 24 by now…

The Train Journey
Hurry up, hurry up.
Get right up, get right up.
Sit back up, sit back up.
Clickety clack, clickety clack.
On the track, on the track.
I saw a tunnel, I saw a tunnel.
Under a tunnel, under a tunnel.
Out of the tunnel, out of the tunnel.
Clickety clack, clickety clack.
On the track, on the track.
