Charles Hill & Son, Albion Dockyard Bristol. Convoy ONS5 was the turning point in the Battle of the Atlantic and although 13 merchant ships were sunk and 142 seamen killed. The U-Boats of which there were at one time over 40 engaged in attacking the convoy lost 7 with 300 crew members. After this battle Admiral Donitz started to withdraw his submarines from the North Atlantic and the Allies had won the Battle of the Atlantic.
