Construction of infrastructure to support unconventional oil and gas development has exploded in the past decade. Laying pipelines destroys forests, erases habitats and disconnects important corridors for numerous species, and contributes to erosion and soil contamination and infertility. Besides problems associated with degrading land, construction brings increased air emissions, truck and ship traffic, and marine and freshwater contamination. The photos in this album illustrate construction of O&G infrastructure in places around the US.
